Dude Seriously What the H
That’s my question of the night. Here’s the dealio. I’m an English major, so what am I doing? I’m writing a paper. I’m totally down with that. I don’t love writing papers, but I knew what I was getting into when I decided to study my first language. I was less prepared for the fact that people would only ever respond to hearing my choice of major with “Oh, so do you want to be a teacher?” People. Do you know me at all? This is a future author you’re looking at. And there are tons of other things you can do with an English degree besides teach.
My point in writing this was to talk about my crazy professor who wants me to write this paper. He tries so hard to be professor-y. He’s all open-ended questions and barely concealed ego. This is taking all the fun out of Pride and Prejudice, which already wasn’t an all time favorite of mine. What am I supposed to do when one of the six comments this guy gives me on my first draft is “You seem to overuse this word” with a circle around the word ‘truest.’ Do you want to know how many times I used that word in my paper? Once.
