Disillusionment

I hate it when someone leaves the toilet seat up and I almost sit IN the toilet rather than on it. Some days it’s like the one thing you can count on to be there for you is the toilet seat. After the shock of almost falling into the bowl (which is always kept a certain distance away by that protective barrier) it’s like… you can’t trust that the world is on your side anymore. You lose your optimism and you feel your outlook growing dreary. You feel a little colder, a little less open to trusting people, because you literally have to watch your back… side. It’s like you would feel very wise if you could tell someone slowly, dramatically, “Well, I used to feel connected with humanity. Then came the day I almost fell in the toilet. Goodbye sweet naivety…. goodbye.”
